A terrific example of sensual modern, the Lady Chair (1951) came about when Arflex, a division of Pirelli, wanted to design seating with foam rubber upholstery, and commissioned Macro Zanuso. The Italian designer was already helping to shape the ideals of the modern design movement. Through his work with Arflex, he became an even greater influence with the introduction of his Lady Chair, it was awarded first prize at the 1951 Milan Triennial.
